"Over the years, I have seen firsthand how much easier it is for children to learn a second language when vocabulary is presented through song and rhyme. I have also witnessed children’s enthusiasm for learning blossom when singing is incorporated into the lesson plan."

Denise Gagné Williamson has a BA in Theatre and Music from Université du Québec à Montréal, and a graduate
diploma in Early Childhood Education from the University of Calgary. She has 20 years experience teaching at the
Elementary level, in Kindergarten, as a Music teacher and as a homeroom teacher of every Grade 1-6.
As most of her years teaching were spent in the Immersion setting, Denise has seen firsthand how much easier it is
for students to learn a second language when vocabulary is presented in song and rhyme. She believes that the
pure joy made possible through singing should be shared with our students at every possible moment. Although
still teaching, she currently offers private voice instruction to teens and adults.

Linda Bunn works both as a commercial and a fine artist. She earned a diploma in graphic and visual design, and
worked in advertising. Following a period a travel and inspiration in Europe, Linda studied fine arts at the University
of Waterloo. Besides having illustrated a children’s storybook (Moon Canoe), she also found time to create over 35
murals for children’s rooms.

This is the Denise and Linda’s third collaboration. Their other books together are Teaching French through Songs &
Games (2004) and Les meilleures chansons anglaises (2005).
